My attempt at a supplemental rules intro

I'll edit here. (Morphles, can you list the playing players, ongoing-updated-edited, so we don't hassle them when they've already signed up, or signaled their intention not to play this one?) Marketplace=60, upkeep=0, effect 50% City Walls =30, upkeep=0 Barracks don't require Warrior Code like in LT...

Re: [morphles game] Some remaining issues

Morphles, I fixed up those notes I sent you on the differences between your game and LT34. I'll add to it, and can paste it over to the new intro/summary topic. Obviously this is a suplemental introduction. The main differences are more significant. Originally I'd intended this to be for those new p...

Re: [morphles game] Some remaining issues

I think increasing unit upkeep is a good way to do this. It simulates the strategic effect, which is enough, and one could compare it perhaps to a nation resorting to mercenaries, which is very common in the real world, and in history. I asked about the signup period not just to get an idea from you...

Re: [morphles game] Some remaining issues

Re lost tech consequences I like the idea of the units getting negative effects on their stats, eg. Musketeers have HP reduced to 15 or 10 if you lose Gunpowder, or maybe the cost goes up to 40 or 50. Since these are really bad effects, and another player could lose a tech and it's actually benefici...

Re: Mini game to scrach some itch?:)

Hi morphles, Thanks for the heads up about how long the tech upkeep will take to kick in. For this game will you be able to replace idling players? That way we don't have to be cautious about who plays. In the 'ladder wars' game I'm still playing in Longturn, LW2c, there were a lot of new players be...

Re: Mini game to scrach some itch?:)

Hi morphles, I've started playing a 2.5 game to get a feel for how the tech upkeep works (I'm using the standard in-game civ2civ3 ruleset). If I come across anything worth pointing out I'll write a post. I have notived that the ingame help often refers to new elements being present only if the rules...

Re: Mini game to scrach some itch?:)

Hi morphles, I can't remember if you used to play Longturn, but I was wondering if it's possible to modify the individual tech costs as they appear in the rulesets, like the ones provided on the GitHub site. You probably know all this already, but maybe then for others: Go to longturn.org Then under...

Re: Mini game to scrach some itch?:)

I'm looking forward to seeing what kind of game you come up with. Even though it's good to get feedback about the ruleset to be used/map etc., I think there's a lot to be said for someone starting a game that follows the vision they have in their head. I've been thinking about how to have a game whe...

Re: Mini game to scrach some itch?:)

Hi morphles, I'd be interested in playing. I like the idea of playing on an interesting map like that. I find these 'fair' maps really generic, not very realistic and a bit boring. It makes it more like a board game or something. I love exploring the map, even if it's a bizarre xy wrap little world ...
