New to Greatturn, interested in playing

Postby DainTrinity » Tue Jun 10, 2014 9:44 pm

I'm new to this website and I do love freeciv and I would love to play a game, but it seems like the only one on the list is already filled up for the active players. I was wondering how exactly one goes about getting another game started up.

Hi, GT11 is planned to start this Friday. The forum for GT12 will appear soon after. So hang on!

What *may* happen is that you take over Brasillians in GT10-Hex, who haven't logged in for 30 turns (and game is at turn 45). That would mean being a bit behind, but knowing the surroundings, I'd say it's possible to catch up. So, the question is, is this possible. I suggest sending a PM to Davide who is the admin around here.

Hmmm... Scratch that... Maybe check if Belgians are in a more repairable state..

I'm fine with waiting, I just didn't know they would be starting one shortly after the G11, I can wait. I'm just really curious about a large scale freeciv. I'm no expert player but I've played a lot of single player freeciv games.

Why not try a few pickup multiplayer games to get a feel for at least a limited scale of playing with humans ?

This is not 100% sure. Why not join an untaken nation, you can always leave if it doesn't work out.

If we had some Team games, newbies could join games and learn from experienced allies.
I strongly advocate to build a Team game every other 3 or 4 matches, as it used to happen in longturn.org

I totally support this initiative ;)
The unfortunate gt8 for example though me and Lgos some things, even though I would think we play moderately well. So I think everyone could learn from that.
