Re-Wonder Ruleset

I propose using the rewonder ruleset. In my opinion, this promotes more even opportunity.

That's a pretty dated ruleset; I haven't yet tested if it is still fully compatible with modern Freeciv, but I doubt and probably it will require some fixes.

Links: ruleset description; ruleset files.

Aren't we already running this ruleset on GT03 ?

If so, I have no problems with it. Wouldn't mind doubling unit movement, however. Kind of miss it ;)

GT03 runs on a Multiplayer-based ruleset, which is said to be the modern evolution of the obsolete Rewonder.

Is that so? Cool. I was unaware.

Well, that certainly explains the similarities between the two rule sets!

What are the major differences between the older Rewonder rule set and the "modern" version, which is what we're playing on GT03 ?

I had an in-depth but incomplete comparison at both the standard multiplayer ruleset, which GT03 is based upon, and re-wonder.

Multiplayer ruleset is just the modernized version of re-wonder.

Most of the differences are about l10n support (translation to foreign languages) and textual corrections to the help messages contained inside the rulesets. There are no differences about units, terrains, buildings, technologies, nor at their requirements or effects, except for the following additions present in multiplayer ruleset: fundamentalism government, elephant unit, fanatic unit.

So far this is an analysis of 70% of the rulesets files.

Well, if that's the case I propose we go with a vote on the most compatible ruleset. If the modern Multiplayer ruleset keeps the spirit of the rewonder ruleset, and it's also the most compatible ruleset with current versions of freeciv, then it seems to me that we should instead be voting on the Multiplayer ruleset instead.

I'm now closing this poll with the orientation that votes for the probably-obsoleted Rewonder ruleset can equally go for the modern Multiplayer ruleset. Let me know if we neglected to notice some major difference between the two, except for modernization.
