If the ideas and suggestions collected here viewtopic.php?f=74&t=754
would be implemented we could try it again!

I'ts not. First I havent palyed it. Second even if I were to hate it doesn't mean some other ww1 scenario couldn't be made that would be good.

1. It's called irony
2. There won't be a another WWI scenario. Unless you want to spent a month of your lifetime creating it: viewtopic.php?f=74&t=718

Yes, that scenario was a work of art. Sadly, it was also very time consuming and I really don't see myself spending that much time again for a game that didn't last more than 30 turns. It's still a fun game to play offline, though (I recently started playing as USA against AI and it's lots of fun).

If I had the time and inclination to rework that scenario again, I would do one thing very differently: there were simply too many cities. I'm more in favor of having fewer, more productive cities than many smaller ones that overlap with one another. Especially in dense areas like The Netherlands, for example. Plus the "minor" nations should have been one single entity controlled by the AI, since I found that many players were hopelessly outgunned by major nations (of which there were only 7 or so). Definitely not a game for 20 players.

But hey, that's just my personal preference. We could debate this until the cows come home

As for this poll, I like the idea of maybe playing a WW2 scenario. It wouldn't be too hard to take the existing map, modify it slightly, and turn it into a WW2 scenario. Just a thought, might be fun to play as well.

Well, the poll is not running too long but since this scenario would depend on someone who is willing and capabable of fixing the glitches -and I don't think someone wants to do the job right now- we can scrap the poll. A WWII is therefore even more unlikely since it requieres much modifications of nations and cities. Though it's a pitty that the scenario is rotting in the dungeons of the freeciv archives; it only needs some refurbishments! Maybe it could be integrated in the default freeciv offline scenario game?
@Nimrod: I took a look again and the cities in Benelux/Ruhr and they are very close but that's reality! Cutting them out would make the game very plane since other parts are very scarce populated like Russia and Turkey. I had anyway in mind that they disappear "naturally" in canon fire like elp did it with hasp the first try of GT7 :D Whole Benelux and Northern France was a huge crater.
In any case, taste is taste.

Maybe in a not too distant future we could try again!
