Disable trade routes

Postby monamipierrot » Sun Feb 16, 2014 7:23 pm

In GT01 I builded trade routes which were self-sustainable, i.e. I could instantly build another caravan with the revenue and keep some for me. My advice is to disable them or to drastically diminuish their income (both city trade income and instant bulbs and $)

I vote keep it cause there is no good option here. It seems current game has trade routes, but has initial revenue decreased 8 times iircs, which is quite good. If there is further need to nerf them overl output could be reduced in half.

16 times. We can make it 8 if that's too much.

16 times is the difference with GT01?

Also, I want to cast another poll about turning off rapture growth.
I want to ask Davide if he can take care of providing the needed code for this and the new poll, as I'm a coding ileterate.

The x16 revenue reduction is relative to the default ruleset, and remains so for GT01 as well.
Civ2Civ3 has no rapture by its own.

What about the city trade bonus? Is it currently the same as with GT01? I can stay with it but the exaggerated amount of $ and bulbs that EVERY single caravan moveing inside my GT01 empire could instantly generate, was an insane advantage (I can remember 1,500$/bulbs per time). I could have exploit this advantage even more but I really didn't *like* it. It is not a nice way of winning. Maybe we can re-cast the poll with these options:

1. No change (=GT01 settings)
2. halving city trade
3. halving instant $/bulbs revenue
4. halving both trade and instant revenue
5. disable routes

I really don't see why trade in general is such a pet peeve to people. To me I think trade routes are almost no different than a market, bank, or stock exchange, a long-term investment. Yes, there are some uneven features such as the initial trade award, which I think should be removed.

But other than those flaws, what more is a trade route compared to a market or bank?
