Available Nations

Ferdi's Hearth of Darkness African scenario

Available Nations

Postby XYZ » Mon Feb 24, 2014 2:09 pm

Here are the nations that can be played in the scenario. I categorized them by A,B,C,D. A= very big, B= big, C=medium, D=small. The size influences the alliance situation:

A= no alliance allowed
B= 1 alliance with a class D nation allowed
C= 2 alliances with a class D nation allowed or one alliance with a another class C allowed
D= as much class D alliances as you want or see above

(updated: 1.04.2014)

A:

  • Britain (taken by AdamAltabbaa) (class D nation after 2nd split-off)
  • France (taken by BeckettTheIncompetent )

B:

  • Ottoman Empire (taken by MabeRuth) (class D nation after split-off)
  • Germany (ai)

C:

  • Belgium (taken by thegrime)
  • Portugal (taken by XYZ)

D:

  • Abyssinia (ai)
  • Italy (taken by Kocureck)
  • Spain (ai)
  • Boer Republic (taken by Major Nimrod)
  • Morocco (taken by Corbeau)
  • Scotland (ai split-off)
  • Wales (taken by El_perdedor) (split-off)
  • Greece (ai split-off)
  • Liberia (ai)

I forgot to mention that there are a few natives on the map. They are not very powerfull and in one case they don't even have cities. They have kings in some cases and barbarian leaders to symbolize slave traders (good to cash in). In any case please don't give them tech! although I'm less dogmatic about that rule than about the alliance restrictions. If you really want to ally them they count as class D nations.

Reason: I listed players next to their nation so to keep things clearer & eyecandy :p

And now hate me for making such a complicated alliance system :D The truth is that I had to balance the scenario somehow since the big colonial powers France and Britain are far too big. At the same time I wanted to create an interesting multipolar world that is shaped by local conflicts and not by a boring Eeast-West-who-has-more-allies-conflict. This rule is mainly influenced from the bad experience I made in GT7 where unwritten and often unknown rules were expected that led to confusion and hate and to a subsequent abortion of the game.

Hey Ferdi,

Not sure if this is the thread where we can reserve a nation to play in GT10-Africa.

If yes, then I'd like to try out the Boer Republic :)

That's perfect! Sorry if we don't yet have a full-steam infrastructure to support scenarios.

Edit: Still, a formal registration via GT's interface would be preferable in order to keep the confirmation system functional and easily identify idlers.

I'll incompetently lead the French! (Based on my last two GT game alliances have kinda been an issue, so this time I'll go alone until the bitter end!)
Hope this will be an interesting scenario. Thanks XYZ!

P.S. I'll be auctioning off my Northern territories to the highest bidder and retreat Madagascar. Place your bids now!

I think I'll play the most offensive nation in the history of the Galaxy i.e., Belgium.

Maybe I'll even win a Rory for the most gratuitous use of the word "Belgium" in a serious screenplay.

That is all.
